SUMMARY:Griffin Ranch Clean up
DESCRIPTION:The Griffin Ranch is one of five being inducted into the Arizona Farming and Ranching Hall of Fame this year ! \nJoin APC on April 22nd at Griffin Ranch in our effort to maintain and improve land owner relations and keep open access to public lands. In 1992 the Arizona Game and Fish Department initiated a new program called Adopt-A-Ranch. The idea for this program was patterned after the Department of Transportation’s Adopt-A-Highway Program. Nearly 30 Adopt-A-Ranch projects are completed every year to help maintain access on about 2 million acres of land.  This is the perfect conservation project for the entire family; bring the kids. \nDirections: From Globe\, drive north on US 60 (State Highway 77) about 20 miles\, then turn NW onto Haystack Butte road (FR 303).  The meet up spot is approximately 2.5 miles from Hwy 60.  We’ll be in the Tonto National Forest\, Unit 24A\, at approximately 33.6187°\, -110.6620°. \nPlease be at the meet-up spot no later than 9 AM.  Tools and trash bags will be supplied by Arizona Game and Fish\, and lunch & drinks will be provided by APC. We expect to be finished by mid-afternoon\, so this should allow everyone to get back to Phoenix by evening. \nPlease RSVP to Hank Scutoski at hpski9@gmail.com.  This will help us ensure we have enough tools and food.  But if you forget or are not sure if you can make it\, don’t let that stop you from participating.  Come on out. \nThe Griffin ranch is located north of Globe. From Phoenix drive east on US60 to Haystack Butte Road\, which is approximately 16.5 miles north of the US 60-US 70 junction.  Drive approximately 2.5 miles north on Haystack Butte Road to the meetup spot on the west side of the road (33.61881\, -110.66222).

SUMMARY:Jan 25th Habitat Improvement Project
DESCRIPTION:This project is called the Little Horseshoe Project and is in Bighorn Sheep territory in AZGFD management unit 28. Coordinates are: N 32°23’14.64″\, W 109°3’56.94″. We will have to travel into New Mexico on Hwy 70 to Gruwell Rd just west of MP 13. We will meet at Gruwell Rd that morning at 8AM then proceed to the project location from there. The road is narrow and rocky so side by side or ATV is required. We can get trucks to about a mile from the project. Side by side or ATV can travel a little further but limited to two or three past the parking area do to road conditions. There will be a short 1/2 to 3/4 mile hike to the project site from the road so dress appropriate. We will be cleaning out the water catchment\, replacing the plumbing from the catchment to the storage tank\, then from the storage tank to the drinker. We will be installing a new wildlife drinker as well. We will need a few shovels\, digging tools\, and plumbing tools if you are able to bring any. We will be supplying lunch so please RSVP to seazscnews@gmail.com so we have a head count. Thank you\, and we hope to see you there.
